Asimov's "Foundation" coming in 3D
If you like Isaac Asimov, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Asimov's classic Foundation trilogy is headed for the silver screen as a 3D film. The bad news is that it'll be directed by the man behind the 1998 "re-imagining" of Godzilla.
Yes, Roland Emmerich is working on a movie adaptation of the Foundation trilogy. Specifically, they will be 3D films using similar motion-capture technology as Avatar. Besides that, not much is known about the upcoming films.
In an interview with MTV News, Emmerich said, "It's not only the effect of 3-D... if you do a movie in 3-D, you can ask for more money and that's the trick." Good to know you're committed to bringing a heartfelt literary adaptation to the big screen, Rollie.
