ATC’s 25-Hz-Capable Sub Boasts Hand-Built Driver
The new C1 Sub Mk 2 subwoofer ($3,499) houses the custom woofer and a 200-watt Class AB amplifier in an 18 x 14 x 16-inch enclosure finished in one of four real wood veneers. The down-firing woofer incorporates a 3-inch ribbon voice coil and “massive motor assembly” designed for “clean and dynamic” performance down to its limits with a max sound-pressure level (SPL) of 103 dB.
An update of ATC’s C1 Sub Mk1, the Mk 2 is suitable for music and movies and incorporates a larger power supply, improved overload-protection circuitry (with a front-panel indicator), a redesigned low-pass filter, and the latest version of the company’s discrete MOSFET power module.
The rear panel has a continuously variable low-pass/all-pass filter (50-180 Hz), a polarity switch, controls for phase and level plus speaker- and line-level (RCA) inputs and a summed (L+R) line RCA output for daisy-chaining multiple subwoofers.
The C1 Sub Mk2 is backed by ATC’s standard 6-year warranty. Finish options are cherry, black ash, satin black, and satin white.
