Audioengine Expands HD Speaker Series

Audioengine has introduced a passive version of its HD6 powered speaker, which was awarded Sound & Vision Top Pick status earlier this year.

"We felt many customers would appreciate a passive speaker with the same great sound and look so we created the HDP6, said Dave Evans, Audioengine founder.

The HDP6 ($499/pair) shares the same components, build quality, and specs as the HD6 ($750/pair), including a silk-dome tweeter, a 5.5-inch Kevlar-cone woofer on a solid aluminum frame, and a three-quarter-inch-thick MDF cabinet with rigid bracing and a slotted bass port in the rear.

The speaker has a removable grille that attaches to the cabinet magnetically and is finished in furniture-grade walnut or cherry hardwood veneers with aluminum trim accents or satin black (all shown above).
