Best Buy opened its first store in the United Kingdom last weekend, and it was met with record-breaking sales. The store opened in Thurrock, a borough in Essex County, and according to Best Buy CEO Paul Antoniadis, it was the largest opening weekend in the history of Best Buy. The store saw more sales by volume than any Best Buy worldwide.

The Thurrock store is the first of many planned for both the UK and Europe as a whole. Two new Best Buy stores are scheduled to open in Hedge End and Merry Hill in West Midlands county in June, with more on the way.
