Best Buy Sways Klipsch Speaker Design

Best Buy employees and customers had a major influence on some new Klipsch speakers, the Icon V Series. In fact, they helped design the speakers.

The Icon V Series was Klipsch's response to Best Buy's request for what the press release describes as "superior, value-priced sound in the lifestyle speaker category." According to Mark Casavant, Klipsch vice president of product development, the speakers focus on "sound, style and value. In fact, Icon V is a superb entry point into Klipsch sound performance. Never before has our power, detail and emotion been available in this size footprint and price point."

Included in the series are two floorstanders, VF-36 ($950/pair) and V-35 ($750/pair); plus the VB-15 monitor ($300/pair), VC-25 center ($280/each), and VS-14 surrounds ($330/pair). All are designed to run well with a/v receivers. All use a new variation of Klipsch's traditional horned design with aluminum tweeters and fiber-composite woofers. Top and side caps are wood veneers.
