Blu Cheer: BluOS 3.4 Update Brings Dirac Live, DTS:X, and More
Most new features in BluOS 3.4 are meant to improve the BluOS Controller app’s already excellent user interface. For example, Qobuz subscribers will now be able to identify high-res tracks via an “HR” icon similar to the “Master” designation in Tidal. Other improvements focus on Roon integration, customization of audio source appearance in the BluOS Controller UI, and Bluetooth pairing stability. On the home theater front, the update includes firmware to support DTS:X immersive audio on BluOS-enabled NAD AV receivers.
The arrival of BluOS 3.4 also means Dirac Live room correction will be enabled in NAD’s Masters M10 BluOS Streaming Amplifier. According to the company, Dirac Live allows for “near-perfect compensation of the room’s acoustic anomalies up to 500 Hz.” A Dirac Live Full version that covers the full frequency range is also available to M10 owners at extra cost. While setup and advanced control of Dirac Live requires use of Dirac’s app, enabling the processing and switching between stored filter modes can be carried out directly within the BluOS Controller app.
