Bluesound has announced that the Pulse Soundbar+ will soon be added to its family of wireless multiroom speakers. The “plus” in this case is the addition of Dolby Atmos immersive audio, along with a few other features including HDMI eARC that help position the company’s new offering a sizeable step above its original Pulse Soundbar.

“In 2016, Bluesound launched the world’s first Hi-Res soundbar, setting the bar for audio excellence in the category that continues to this day,” says Matt Simmonds, Bluesound Product Manager. “With the Pulse Soundbar+, we continue to innovate and refine, making good on our commitment to bring hi-res, HiFi listening to everyday life, even in product categories that traditionally overlook the importance of audio quality.”

Atmos is delivered via 8 “audiophile-quality” drivers on the Pulse Soundbar+, which also features 24-bit audio processing and 120 watts of total power. Along with its HDMI eARC port, audio connections include optical digital, analog stereo RCA, and USB inputs, while wireless streaming can be carried out via Apple AirPlay 2, two-way aptX HD Bluetooth, and Bluesound’s proprietary BluOS protocol. Google, Amazon, and Apple voice assistants are supported for hands-free control, and custom installation pros can access drivers for Lutron, Crestron, RTI, Elan, and other control systems.

Although Bluesound states that the standalone Pulse Soundbar+ is capable of deep bass, it can also be paired with the Pulse Sub+ subwoofer that Sound & Vision recently reviewed. For even more immersive sound, listeners can add a pair of the company’s Pulse Flex 2i speakers for use as wireless surrounds.

Bluesound’s Pulse Soundbar+ is available now for preorder and will start shipping in April. Prices are $899 in black finish and $999 in white.
