Bryston Announces Refined Preamplifier
The latest addition to its Cubed Series, the BP-173 preamp ($3,995) is built around a patented “super-linear, low noise input buffer” jointly developed by Bryston and the late Ph.D. engineer Dr. Ioan Alexandru Salomie. In addition to significantly reduced noise and distortion, the preamp features improved RF and audio frequency noise filtering to “prevent unwanted anomalies on the power line from interfering even minutely with the audio signal.”
Expanded stereo input/output options include two balanced inputs, five RCA inputs, two XLR outputs, and two RCA outputs. One of the XLR output pairs can be set for variable (default) or fixed output to accommodate a balanced-input headphone amplifier such as Bryston’s BHA-1. An RCA tape loop enables connection of a processor or recording device.
Options include a high-resolution internal DAC and moving-magnet phono stage ($750 each) and the BR-2 remote control ($375).
The BP-173 is available in black or silver with a 17-inch or rack-mountable 19-inch faceplate and covered by Bryston’s famous 20-year warranty.
Customers who order before August 31st get can add the optional phono stage, DAC, or BR-2 remote control at no additional cost.
