Cambridge Audio’s Wireless Earbuds Boast 4X ‘Extended Play’

Cambridge Audio is aiming to set a “new standard for British-designed Bluetooth headphones” with its first wireless earbuds.

The water/sweat-resistant Melomania 1 earbuds ($130) boast aptX-enabled Bluetooth connectivity and a 9-hour battery than can be recharged up to four times with the supplied charging case for an additional 36 hours of play time.

Weighing in at a fraction of an ounce (0.16 to be exact), the earbuds are super light and feature quarter-inch driver diaphragms made with graphene, selected for its “outstanding strength and flexibility” and ability to produce clear sound.

Cambridge says Bluetooth 5.0 technology is employed for its “superb energy efficiency and signal stability” whether the audio source is a laptop, tablet, smartphone, or portable audio player. In addition to aptX, the Melomania 1 also supports the latest AAC codec for achieving the best possible sound quality from iPhones and other Apple devices.

The earbuds are also compatible with voice assistants such as Siri and Google Assistant.

To ensure voice calls remain “crisp, clear, and free of background noise," Cambridge uses Qualcomm’s Clear Voice Capture (cVc) noise-cancelling technology with an advanced microphone.

The earbuds come with a choice of silicone or memory-foam ear tips to ensure a snug fit and can be ordered with an optional protective silicone case ($10) that comes in six colors — orange, pink, blue, green, gray, or red.
