CEA: Convert Your Mom to DTV!

Perhaps there is no more potent icon of American motherhood than Florence Henderson, who played Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch. She'll be helping the Consumer Electronics Association "encourage baby boomers to help their elderly parents, relatives, and neighbors get ready" for the transition to digital television, says a CEA press release.

The "Convert Your Mom" campaign will kick off with a satellite media tour in May, starring Henderson, along with a downloadable guide at Digitaltips.org. It will punch through the message that there are three ways for antenna-dependent viewers to survive the DTV transition: Buy a new TV with digital tuner, subscribe to cable or satellite (or telco TV, the press release should have added), or buy a set-top box.

Don't let your elderly or tech-unsavvy loved ones get left behind! I'm glad to report my parents intend to buy a DTV.
