Cop Out (Blu-ray)
The 1980s saw its share of some great buddy-cop films with 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop, but sadly this doesn't come close to delivering the laughs or a fraction of the entertainment value. Morgan's act is tiresome and the script from Mark and Rob Cullen is far from original.
Video Highlights
- VC-1/1080p encode on a BD-50 disc
- Bright color palette
- Wavering black levels
- Excellent detail
- Clean print
Audio Highlights
- DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack
- Intelligible dialog
- Decent dynamics
- Shootouts envelop the room
- Strong LFE, especially with the hip-hop laden soundtrack
Other than a couple of scenes with elevated black levels, the encode is another solid effort from Warner. The audio track is adequate but isn't as bombastic as it could have been.
Bonus Materials
- Extended scenes and outtakes
- PIP Commentary with Kevin Smith and Seann William Scott
- Walk-Ons by Kevin Smith
- Wisdom form the S*** Bandit
- Factoids about the movie and other information you may find helpful…or totally useless
How sad is it that the PIP commentary from Kevin Smith and Seann William Scott is funnier and more entertaining than the actual movie? The presentation is adequate, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Not recommended.
