Definitive Technology PowerMonitor 700 Speaker System HT Labs Measures
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the PowerMonitor 700 L/R (purple trace), PF15TL+ subwoofer (blue trace), C/L/R 2500 center channel (green trace), and BP2X surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
On-axis response of the PowerMonitor 700 measures +1.81/-1.42 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The -3dB point is at 37 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 34 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 2.79 ohms at 132 Hz and a phase angle of -20.20 degrees at 2.5 kHz. Sensitivity averages 89.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
On-axis response of the C/L/R 2500 measures +2.10/-2.27 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and (+/-15 degree) horizontal responses measures +2.22/-1.65 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The -3dB point is at 37 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 34 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 2.66 ohms at 322 Hz and a phase angle of -33.11 degrees at 179 Hz. Sensitivity averages 90 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
Three-face averaged response of the BP2X measures +1.51/-6.07 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The -3dB point is at 108 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 92 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 2.99 ohms at 12.3 kHz and a phase angle of -34.26 degrees at 4.2 kHz. Sensitivity averages 89 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
Close-miked response of the PF15TL+, normalized to the average level from 40 to 80 Hz, indicates that the lower -3dB point is at 36 Hz and the -6dB point is at 33 Hz. The upper -3dB point is at 118 Hz using the LFE input.—AJ
