Denon: World's First Universal Blu-ray Player
Did you buy into SACD? Stocked up on every new DVD-Audio that came out? Been wondering what the heck you were gonna do with those discs if you upgraded to Blu-ray?
Denon's new DVD-A1UDCI to the rescue! Claimed to be the world's first universal Blu-ray player, the DVD-A1UDCI can play Blu-ray, SACD, DVD-Audio and boring old DVD video. It will have a Profile 2.0 update with BD-Live capabilities.
Keep reading for as much information that we could glean from Denon's Japanese website.
The DVD-A1UDCI will have 1080p60/1080p24 output, HDMI 1.3, an SD/SDHC memory card slot, and DivX support. There will be internal processing for DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, and 7.1-channel analog outputs.
Currently, the player is slated for a Japanese launch next month at $5,860, and no word of a US release. Let's hope that by the time it reaches our shores, the price will be more in our reach. -Leslie Shapiro
UPDATE: News flash! Denon released the official product information, and the price is a mere $3,800! Are you shopping yet?
