What's been the hangup developing a laser light source. It seems that a bright laser was always going to be better than a bulb. Whatever happened to the Red-Ray laser projector, supposedly for less than $10k? I'm sure the DPI will be way north of $20k since it's obviously designed for large venues.
Digital Projection to Ship Laser Projector in July
The projector, which is based on a solid-state illumination system that does not require lamp replacement, was developed with a “set it and forget it” directive and designed for minimal maintenance throughout its lifetime, according to DPI.
Described as suitable for a range of venues, the projector comes standard with Image Edge Blending, advanced geometric warp correction, and active 3D functionality with frame rates up to 144 Hz. Inputs include DVI, 3G-SDI, and two HDMI 1.4 connectors. The projector supports HDBaseT connectivity, allowing for the transmission of uncompressed high-definition video over a CAT5e/6 LAN cable.
A diverse selection of fixed and zoom lenses, with throw ratios ranging from 0.77:1 to 6.76:1 and extensive lens shift, are available, according to DPI.
