DirecTV launches multi-room viewing DVR
DirecTV has just officially rolled out its multi-room DVR across the country. The new service, called Whole Home DVR, lets users record and watch multiple shows in multiple rooms with one DVR unit.
Whole Home DVR works by using a single DVR unit and a series of receiver units to distribute feeds from the DVR to multiple HDTVs. The DVR can record two shows at once while displaying two more, and the system can handle up to 15 HD receivers. DirecTV hasn't priced the HD receivers yet, but the service itself costs only $3 per month. The service is now currently available to new and existing DirecTV customers.
