The first 3D channel is coming to satellite. DirecTV plans to announce it next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Programming would include movies, sports, and other stuff. This could give a big boost to manufacturers seeking to establish 3D as the next big thing in TV. They are also expected to make some big announcements at CES.

Viewers would of course need a 3D video display and 3D glasses, along with a firmware upgrade to their DirecTV box.
