DISH'ing on TiVo
Can't we all just get along??? A post on The US Daily is reporting that DISH Network and their technology spin-off EchoStar is suing TiVo, after TiVo sued them for patent infringement. What's all the fuss about?
Back in January, the U.S. Court of Appeals awarded TiVo a $74 million settlement after deciding that DISH had infringed a TiVo patent in DISH's digital video recorders. Back in April, DISH requested to an appeals court that judges should re-examine arguments about the patent dispute. The appeals court denied the request.
Now, DISH has filed a lawsuit against TiVo to find that they are not infringing on TiVo's patent.
Considering that the act of recording to any DVR, TiVo or not, is called "TiVo'ing" by the majority of folks, there might be bigger battles to fight. -Leslie Shapiro
