Epson Intros ‘Advanced Pixel-Shifting’ in $2K Projector

Epson has introduced “advanced” pixel-shifting technology in the Home Cinema 4010 LCD projector it unveiled yesterday.

The $2,000 projector, rated for 2,400 lumens of peak brightness with a 200,000:1 contrast ratio, supports HDR10 high-dynamic range (HDR) and displays 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut in its Digital Cinema mode, according to the company. It accepts a 4K input and uses proprietary processing to “precisely control three individual 1920 x 1080 LCD panels,” resulting in an image said to compete with native 4K projectors.

The Home Cinema 4010 provides 12-bit color processing with frame interpolation and “proprietary advanced motion control” and has a motorized 15-element glass projection lens with 10 lens-position presets and a lens-shift range of up to ± 96% on the horizontal axis and ± 47% on the vertical axis.

Epson provides a two-year limited warranty, priority technical support, and free next-day exchange through its Extra Care Home Service.
