FandangoNow Joins Movies Anywhere Streaming Service

Movies Anywhere today announced that video-on-demand service FandangoNow has joined its Hollywood-backed movie ecosystem.

Under the agreement, titles purchased and redeemed through FandangoNow can be accessed alongside titles purchased from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Vudu using the Movies Anywhere app and website.

The goal behind Movies Anywhere — which is supported Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios (including Disney, Pixar, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm), Twentieth Century Fox Film, Universal Pictures (including DreamWorks and Illumination Entertainment), and Warner Bros — is to provide one home for a consumer’s digital movie collection with seamless, cross-platform access to a library of nearly 7,500 digital movies, including the 2017 blockbuster, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is available via the service starting today.

Once users connect their FandangoNow account with Movies Anywhere, they can watch digital movies redeemed and purchased from the participating digital retailers mentioned earlier on a variety of devices and platforms — including Amazon Fire, Android and Android TV, Chromecast, Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, Roku — and popular browsers.

The Movies Anywhere app has been used to store over 100 million movies to date, according to Karin Gilford, general manager for the streaming service, who noted: “The popularity of Movies Anywhere is largely due to the extraordinary content, including exclusives and promotions, and the support provided through our growing list of online digital retailers.” Fandango said its FandangoNow service is currently available on more than 200 million connected devices.

To celebrate the addition of FandangoNow and the arrival of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Movies Anywhere has added new Star Wars-inspired profile picture options: a Rebel Alliance Starbird, a Stormtrooper, and the First Order emblem.
