Focal-JMlab Chorus S Speaker System HT Labs Measures
• Chorus 726 S L/R Sensitivity: 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
• Chorus CC700 S Center Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
• Chorus 706 S Surround Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Chorus 726 S L/R (purple trace), Chorus SW700 S subwoofer (blue trace), Chorus CC700 S center channel (green trace), and Chorus 706 S surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The 726 S's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +0.53/–2.91 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 61 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 47 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.62 ohms at 99 Hz and a phase angle of –71.37 degrees at 67 Hz.
The CC700 S's listening-window response measures +1.69/–5.27 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +2.22/–6.69 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 72 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 59 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.79 ohms at 174 Hz and a phase angle of –38.80 degrees at 98 Hz.
The 706 S's listening-window response measures +1.03/–5.17 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 67 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 55 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.29 ohms at 218 Hz and a phase angle of –55.25 degrees at 96 Hz.
The SW700 S's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 40 Hz and the –6dB point is at 38 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 110 Hz using the LFE input.—MJP
