Focal Launches Kanta Speaker Series
The stand-mount/bookshelf Kanta N1, Kanta Center, and floorstanding Kanta N3 share technologies used in the N2, including Focal’s signature flax-fiber cone drivers and the latest generation of its IAL inverted-dome beryllium tweeter (IAL3).
Described as suitable ideal for rooms less than 270 square feet, the N1 combines an IAL3 tweeter with a 6.5-inch woofer in a 16.5-inch-tall enclosure featuring a high-density polymer baffle. The speaker has a rated sensitivity of 88 dB and low-frequency limit of 42 Hz (–6 dB).
Hailed as the “gold standard” of the Kanta series, the N3 is described as ideal for larger rooms up to about 860 square feet. The speaker stands just over 50 inches tall and combines an IAL3 tweeter with a 6.5-inch driver above it and two 8-inch woofers below in an enclosure featuring a high-density polymer baffle and dual ports, one in the front and one in back. The N3 has a rated sensitivity of 91 dB and low-frequency limit of 26 Hz (–6 dB).
The Kanta Center, designed for use with the N1, N2, or N3 speakers in a home theater setup, places an IAL3 tweeter between two 6.5-inch drivers in a 22-inch-wide cabinet designed to “reproduce the vocal range with extreme neutrality, at both low and very high volumes.” Rated sensitivity is 91 dB and has a low-frequency limit of 50 Hz (–6 dB).
Focal recommends its Sub 1000 F powered subwoofer for use with any of the speakers in the Kanta series.
The company offers eight finish options for all Kanta speakers. A black gloss cabinet with a gloss black, white, blue, or gold front panel, or a walnut cabinet with a blue, tan, gray, or off-white front panel.
