Winter may be just around the corner but that didn’t deter Focal, the France-based maker of high-performance speakers and headphones, from introducing two outdoor speakers designed to withstand extreme weather conditions.

The 100 OD6 ($199 each) and 100 OD8 ($249 each) speakers are the latest additions to Focal’s 100 Series Integration Collection. Both are two-way designs featuring a UV-treated, high-density polypropylene cabinet equipped with silicone-protected push-spring wire terminals, a rust-proof aluminum grille, and a solid aluminum mounting bracket that swivels 180 degrees.

The speakers are described as easy to install vertically or horizontally and IP66-certified, meaning they are dust tight and built to withstand powerful direct water sprays from any direction.

Each model combines a Polyglass-treated polypropylene woofer with an inverted-dome aluminum tweeter for “excellent dispersion.” The OD6 woofer is 6.5 inches and the OD8’s 8 inches. The –6dB low-frequency point is specified as 55 Hz for the OD6 and 45 Hz for the OD8 with sensitivity rated as 87 and 88 dB, respectively.

Cabinet measurements (with brackets) are 8.8 x 10.1 x 12.6 inches for the OD6 and 10.2 x 11 x 15.4 inches for the OD8; weight is 9 and 12.6 pounds, respectively. The speakers are available in black or ready-to-paint white.
