Fantastic Four, which opens today, will be a full-on multi-sensory experience at the Showcase Cinema de Lux in Revere, MA, the nation’s second MX4D theater but the East Coast’s first such venue.

The highly anticipated blockbuster film is also showing in MX4D at Plaza Stadium 14 in Oxnard, CA.

Carefully programmed special effects put movie-goers in an immersive environment where they “feel” the action through “pitch, roll and heave” motion seats, air and water blasts, leg ticklers, fog, scents, and other effects.

National Amusements, owner of Showcase theaters, describes the effects as “nuanced and artfully designed” to enhance on-screen action and sound. “Patrons may feel their seats move during a car chase; a small spray of water during a swimming scene; a balmy wind during a romantic interlude. All these effects work together to transport the patron more deeply into the motion picture.”
