Fracture
Cat and mouse films are few and far between and this is a gem. Hopkins is great as the clever engineer who shoots his cheating wife, seemingly closing the case for the police. But the twists begin as soon as the trial starts and moves at a lightning pace. Even though I had seen it before, I still found myself captivated and almost guessing as to how it might end.
New Line delivers a great looking HD presentation and it benefits from having a newer print. Detail is excellent and the image displays a healthy sense of depth and dimension. Contrast is exceptional with deep blacks and revealing shadows, resulting in superior dimensionality.
The TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack provides some excitement and delivers a very spatial design. The surround envelopment, consistent imaging, and moody atmosphere heighten the experience. Dynamic range is good but not overly aggressive and the dialog is very natural in tone and timbre.
Extras include some alternate endings, deleted scenes and the trailer.
I was hoping to see this one earlier on in the format but I’m glad New Line finally delivered it. It’s a fresh thriller with great performances and the presentation is excellent. Recommended.
