Game of Thrones: Season 1 Heading to 4K Disc

HBO has announced that Season 1 of the smash-hit series Game of Thrones, the most successful franchise in the network’s history, is scheduled for release on 4K/Ultra HD Blu-ray June 5.

All 10 episodes of the season that started GoT-mania have been “beautifully redone in 4K format,” according to HBO, and will be presented in Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR). Total running time of the season is 600 minutes plus bonus features ranging from behind-the-scenes shorts and making-of sequences to audio commentaries and more.

"Beautifully redone in 4K"? Seriously? It was shot in 1080p with an ARRI Alexa (except for the pilot that was partially shot on 35mm). Was it re-shot in 4K? Oh, the industry... :-)
