The Great Wall of Bang & Olufsen
I’m always on the lookout for new ways to use room treatments. With its Beosound Shape, Bang & Olufsen combines room absorption with on-wall speakers in a geometric shape that produces an optical illusion that it’s protruding from the wall more than it actually is. Made in a hexagonal shape, these modules can be used as absorbers or amplified speakers. In the latter case, the speaker is included in one module while the amplifier is in an adjoining one.
Being Bang & Olufsen, however, this isn’t a budget solution. The speakers are $1000/pair, the amp the same (must be purchased separately from the speakers), the absorptive backs (when the module is used for room treatment without speakers) are $150 each, and the geometric covers (also must be purchased separately) are $150 each.
