HiFiMan, the China-based personal audio specialty company, has introduced an over-ear planar-magnetic headphone designed for everyday use.

The Sundara ($499) features a new proprietary diaphragm that’s 80 percent thinner than the transducers used in the company’s Top Pick-designated HE-400 headphones. Benefits include faster response time, wider 6 Hz-75 kHz frequency response, and a “more detailed sonic signature than headphones costing significantly more.”

The Sundara is finished in matte black and boasts a new, lightweight aluminum headband that has been redesigned for better fit and comfort.
