Jane (Meryl Streep) has spent the past 10 years raising three children, running a popular Santa Barbara bakery, and surviving a bitter divorce from Jake (Alec Baldwin), who has since remarried a much younger woman. While attending their son's college graduation in New York, Jane and Jake partake in one too many bottles of wine and end up in the sack complicating both of their lives. Was it a one night stand or has the old flame been rekindled?

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin deliver entertaining performances but Meryl Streep steals every scene with her dry wit and genuine sincerity. You can feel her inner turmoil as she is forced to choose one of the two men in her life. There are a few scenes that are over-the-top, but for the most part this is one of the best comedies of the year.

The screenplay is entertaining although somewhat predictable, but the performances overcome any of its deficiencies. The A/V is befitting the genre and definitely worth a rental. Recommended.
