Leap Year (Blu-ray)
There are many ways to describe this romantic comedy; contrived, forced, stupid (at times), but there's enough romance and sentimentality to barely make it tolerable. The ending is completely predictable and some of the circumstances laughable, but I cared enough about the main characters to overlook the fallible script.
Video Highlights
- VC-1/1080p encode on a BD-50 disc
- Adequate detail
- Accurate flesh tones
- Breathtaking scenery
- Horrendous green screen shots
Audio Highlights
- DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack
- Front-loaded presentation
- Intelligible dialog
- Sufficient dynamics
- Decent soundtrack filled with Irish rock
Other than poor green screen work the video encode is serviceable and I really loved the shots of the Irish countryside. The audio track is your typical romantic comedy affair with suitable ambience.
Bonus Materials
- Delete Scenes (HD)
- BD-Live capable with Pocket Blu and Social Blu
I have a thing for Amy Adams so I'm probably not the most unbiased reviewer of this film. Is it any good? Not really, but Adams does her best with the shallow script despite its numerous flaws. I doubt it's something I'd ever watch again so I would recommend a rental before contemplating a purchase.
