Magnepan Magneplanar MGMC1 Speaker System HT Labs Measures
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the MGMC1 satellite (purple trace) and MGCC3 center channel (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The MGMC1's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +3.89/–2.76 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 160 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 97 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.23 ohms at 98 Hz and a phase angle of –30.56 degrees at 2.6 kHz. Sensitivity averages 84 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
The MGCC3's listening-window response measures +1.99/–5.70 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +2.53/–5.66 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 113 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 108 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.88 ohms at 99 Hz and a phase angle of –22.33 degrees at 1.7 kHz. Sensitivity averages 79 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.—MJP
