Marantz has introduced the first models in its 'full-size' AV receiver theater line.

Equipped with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround processing, the 7.2-channel SR5012 ($999) and 9.2 SR6012 ($1,499) handle passthrough of all three high dynamic range (HDR) formats — HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) — and boast a “futureproof” 4K/60 Hz video section that supports HDCP 2.2, BT.2020, wide color gamut, 21:9 aspect-ratio content, and 4:4:4 color sub-sampling on all eight HDMI inputs. The HLG support will come via a future firmware update.

With rated power of 7 x 100 and 9 x 110 watts (8 ohms at 0.08% THD), respectively, the SR5012 and SR6012 share many features, including hi-res 32-bit D/A conversion on all channels with 2.8/5.6MHz DSD support, analog-to-HDMI conversion and SD/HD to HD/4K upscaling, Audyssey MultEQ XT calibration with Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ, and compatibility with the Audyssey MultEQ Editor App for more precise adjustment.

Common features also include app control, wireless streaming via dual-band Wi-Fi, AirPlay, and Bluetooth with support for the Heos multiroom platform and access to music streaming via internet radio, Spotify Connect, Pandora, SiriusXM, Napster, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Deezer. Both models support IP control and are equipped with 7.1-channel external inputs, 7.1-channel pre-outs, and an RS232C port.

In addition to an aluminum front panel and an extruded aluminum heatsink, the SR6012 offers additional features, including support for 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 surround sound or 7.1.4 with an extra amplifier (SR5012 is 5.1.2), 11.2 channel processing and pre-outs, dual main-zone HDMI outputs with a second zone HDMI monitor output, five audio inputs (SR5012 has four) plus a phono input, and enhanced audio return channel (via a future firmware update) to allow Dolby Atmos and DTS:X playback from TV video apps via a single HDMI cable.

The SR6012 also has three HDMI outputs (SR5012 has two), HEOS audio distribution to sources connected via HDMI, coaxial, and optical audio inputs and jitter reduction circuitry, 4K full-rate up-scaling, DSD playback via HDMI, and digital in (PCM) to Zone 2 pre-out with an HDMI source.
