Mitubishi's New Lineup

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc., has unveiled almost two dozen new products to be delivered to dealers later this year.

Among the products launched at the manufacturer's annual dealer line show April 19 in Huntington Beach, CA, are five new models of liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions, including two high definition sets with fully integrated HD personal video recorders (PVRs). TVs with integrated HD recorders include the Diamond series models 42" LT-4260 and 55" LT-5560, with 120-gigabyte hard drives; MPEG SD encoders; CableCARD slots; and Mitsubishi's "Advanced Multimedia Video Processor" (or AMVP2). 120GB PVRs can record 72 hours of non-HD programming.

Both models feature Mitsubishi's "PerfectColor" 6-way color adjustment. The 42" Diamond model offers 1365 x 768 resolution, while the 55" boasts 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, the highest available on an LCD TV screen. Diamond series flat-panel TVs also come with Mitsubishi's "NetCommand 4.0" home theater system control, "TV Guide On Screen" electric program guides, and "MediaCommand" five-format digital memory card readers.

Mitsubishi's other new LCD TVs include the 22" LT-2240 and 30" LT-3040 Mitsubishi models, and the 30" LT-3050 Medallion model. The 22" and 30" models are "HD-upgradeable and include AMVP for precise upconversion of standard definition video signals," according to an announcement following the show. Each model has a PC input, matching base and Mitsubishi's "PerfectColor" technology. The Mitsubishi and Medallion models all feature 1280 x 768 pixel resolution.

Mitsubishi also introduced its new lines of plasma displays including models up to 61" diagonally, digital cable ready rear projection televisions from 42" to 65", microdisplay projection televisions from 52" to 82" diagonally. HD digital recorders and receivers, and an expanded line of DVD players. An astounding statement product is the 82" three-chip LCoS HDTV. A companion piece is the HD-6000 high definition receiver/controller, which includes a personal video recorder that can record in high definition onto its 120-gigabyte hard drive.
