No Bum Steers from Pioneer’s New Nav Systems

Pioneer's AVIC-Z1 car navigation system features a 30-gigabyte hard drive and a touchscreen user interface.

Pioneer has deemed navigation one of its main priorities for 2006. The jewel in the nav crown is the AVIC-Z1, which sports a 7-inch touchscreen, contains a 30-gigabyte hard drive, features Smart Routing and XM Nav Traffic info, and is Bluetooth and multizone capable. The AVIC-Z1 ($2,250) is targeted for April release. Two other Pioneer nav pieces, the single-DIN AVIC-N3 (available March for $1,800) and the double-DIN AVIC-D2 (available March for $1,500), boast the 2006 Tele Atlas database and can show specific lane information for 50 markets and detailed city maps for 23 markets.
