Origin Acoustics Previews High-Performance Subs
Ranging in price from $500 to $900, the Performance Subwoofer Collection will include three models that mate an 8-, 10-, or 12-inch treated paper-cone driver with a down-firing passive radiator and a Class D digital amplifier in a cabinet that’s smaller than the comparable model in Origin’s SubV series.
The subwoofers are designed to provide extended bass and high output with lower distortion and are equipped with a phase control and auto on/off switching.
The 11.75 x 12.6 x 13.6-inch SUBV8P ($500) powers its 8-inch driver with a 180-watt (RMS) amplifier. The 10-inch-driver SUBV10P ($700) and 12-inch SUBV12P ($900) measure 13.2 x 14 x 15.2 inches and 14.75 x 15.6 x 16.75 inches, respectively, and are rated for 200 and 300 watts (RMS).
Origin will offer a transmitter/receiver kit to convert any of the models into a wireless subwoofer and says the line will be the first to feature rounded corners and a new décor-friendly textured finish.
