Roku Gets HBO Now
Roku announced that HBO’s Internet-only streaming service HBO Now is now available on Roku TVs and players, including the new Roku 4.
The Roku platform is the last of the major streaming devices to get the standalone service, which makes all HBO programming available via the Internet without having a cable subscription. The service launched on Apple TV in April before making its way to Google’s Chromecast and Amazon’s Fire TV.
A recent report from Parks Associates said Roku is the best selling streaming device in the U.S. with 34 percent of units sold in 2014. Google’s Chromecast was second with a 23 percent share.
HBO Now costs $14.99 per month and includes with a 30-day free trial. More information is available at order.hbonow.com.
