Rotel’s New Surround Processor Does Atmos and DTS:X
The RSP-1576 ($2,399) implements Atmos and DTS:X via two Texas Instrument DSPs and includes six Wolfson 24/192k audiophile grade DACs to support home theater configurations with up to 7.1.4 channels.
In addition to supporting Bluetooth/aptX wireless streaming, the processor boasts a moving-magnet phono stage for vinyl playback, a 10-band parametric equalizer to compensate for room acoustics, and an audio return channel (ARC).
Connectivity options include seven HDMI 2.0a-capable inputs for passthrough of 4K high-dynamic range (HDR) video at 60 Hz, three coaxial and three optical digital inputs, a 24/192-ready USB input, two balanced XLR inputs, and a series of RCA analog inputs.
Audio and video circuitry is separate and careful attention has been paid to signal routing and audio performance, according to Rotel, which noted that audio circuits were tuned by a team of acoustic engineers to ensure accurate reproduction.
A full array of custom installation options are also on board, including RS232 and IP control, an infrared (IR) remote receiver input, and IR remote repeater outputs.
