Aimed a serious athletes and sports enthusiasts, the new Momentum Sport earbuds supplement music enjoyment with biometric sensors that monitor heart rate and body temperature while delivering critical data to popular fitness devices and apps in real-time. The idea is to help avoid over exertion and heat fatigue, and data is stored so it can be used for post-training analysis.
The earbuds support aptX Adaptive Bluetooth 5.2 and feature clog-resistant eartips in addition to an “acoustic relief” design that uses air ventilation to mitigate the occlusion effect. The semi-open design also provides natural awareness of your surroundings, which is augmented by three operating modes: Transparency, Anti-Wind, and Adaptive Noise Cancelling.
Sound is produced by 0.4-inch (10 mm) drivers encased in a water/sweat-resistant housing, while the combination of three-axis accelerometers, capacitive touch sensors, and infrared sensors enable playback and call features to be managed with simple finger taps.
Rated battery life is up to 6 hours plus an additional 18 hours using the charging case with a 10-minute quick charge option providing up to 45 minutes of play time. The Momentum Sport earbuds will cost $330 when they become available in early April with a choice of black, olive, or metallic graphite finishes.
