Sonus Faber Announces Venere S Flagship Speaker

Italy’s Sonus Faber is expanding its three-year-old Venere line of speakers with a new flagship tower model, the Venere S, slated to arrive in here in early October.

Designed and assembled by hand in Italy, the three-way Venere S—S for Signature—is described as the line’s most powerful model and one that forms a bridge between the Venere and Olympica product families.

All drivers are custom-built to Sonus Faber’s specifications. The speaker has three 7-inch aluminum woofers that work with a newly designed reflex port mounted in the bottom of the cabinet instead of on the front baffle as in previous designs, a midrange driver made of a thermoformed polypropylene fiber, and a “mechanically decoupled” silk dome tweeter.

The crossover is a semi-balanced configuration with a non-resonant "progressive slope" design and amplitude/phase response optimization to ensure the best time domain performance. The glass base found on the other Venere models has been replaced by a brushed black aluminum plate.

The speaker will sell for $5,499/pair with a wood finish or $4,999/pair in black or white.
