Sony’s Top Soundbar Gets DTS:X, Dolby Vision Update
Sony has announced the availability of a firmware update for its high-end HT-ST5000 soundbar that adds DTS:X surround sound decoding, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS Digital Surround, Dolby Vision pass-through, and other features.
The utility, which updates the soundbar’s operating system to version M40.R.0374, also adds multi-room sync and a maintenance feature for the Spotify Connect app.
Designed to be the “cornerstone of a home theater setup,” the flagship HT-ST5000 soundbar supports 7.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos surround processing and hi-res audio playback from a sleek enclosure housing 12 speakers. Rated power output is 800 watts and the soundbar also supports 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, multiroom capability, and is compatible with the voice-activated Google Home speaker.
