Sony Online Store to Close

In what may be the latest sign of a struggling giant, Sony is shutting down its online Sony Store on August 28. Earlier this year, the company closed all but one of its retail locations, leaving its flagship New York City store intact.

Sony put a positive spin on the online closure in a message posted on the site, which reads:

As we evolve our US business, Sony Store Online will stop taking orders at 1pm (PST), August 28, 2015. We’re working with our Retail Partners to bring new Sony experiences to shoppers across the nation in store & online. We’re excited to share the launch of our new electronics product site with you soon!

In a Frequently Asked Questions page on the site, Sony notes that product exchanges must be executed before the site closes and that customers will be able to retrieve order status information on the site through October 2, 2015. The company’s normal return and warranty policies will apply to orders placed before August 29.
