Sony TVs
A slew of new LCD TVs made their debut, including the HX900 series shown here, which provides LED backlighting with local dimming and true 240Hz operation, and it's 3D-capable using active-shutter glasses. Many of Sony's new TVs embody the company's "monolithic" designwhen they're turned off, they look like a solid black monolith sitting in a grooved, brushed-metal base, which is very classy. Another innovation found in many of the new sets is called OptiContrast, in which a resin is injected between the LCD panel and the outer glass layer to increase contrast and diffuse glare.
The HX900 joins several other new lines, some with LED edge lighting, some with 3D capabilities, some with 240Hz, some with integrated WiFi, some with the monolithic design, in screen sizes up to 60 inches. They will be available in the spring and summer, but no prices were announced for the high-end models.
