'Star Wars' trilogy finally coming to Blu-ray
It's been a long time coming, but the Star Wars trilogy is finally coming to Blu-ray Disc. That's the good news. The bad news, at least for some, is that it will be the Special Editions of the films and not the original cuts. The "meh" news is that the prequel movies will also be hitting Blu-ray.
George Lucas just announced at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, Florida that after 35 years Star Wars will be coming to Blu-ray Disc, along with all its sequels and prequels. According to the announcement, each release will include a ton of special features, including a deleted scene from Return of the Jedi. Unfortunately, Lucas said that the Special Editions would be used for the original trilogy, because transferring the original cuts of the film would be too expensive. The Blu-ray Disc releases of the Star Wars movies will come out in Fall of next year.
