SVS has introduced its 5000 R|Evolution Series subwoofers, which the manufacturer says extend technology from its flagship 17-Ultra R|Evolution line into smaller and more affordable models. The new SB-5000 R|Evolution (sealed) and PB-5000 R|Evolution (ported) subwoofers both feature a 15-inch driver, dual monoblock amplifier, and a 295MHz Analog Devices DSP, which SVS describes as the most powerful subwoofer processing engine on the market.

SVS says the new driver uses a dual edge-wound voice coil and copper-clad aluminum wire for high output and precise control. According to the company, each amplifier channel powers one voice coil for increased current, while eight high-capacity MOSFETs help handle challenging content without draining excessive power. The subwoofers also include an onboard AC line conditioner for voltage stabilization and interference reduction.

SVS states the digital signal processing monitors thermal and current levels, shapes in-room response, and handles advanced EQ settings via a smartphone app that offers volume, low-pass filter, phase, parametric EQ, and other controls. An Auto EQ feature is slated for a future firmware update to further optimize in-room performance, according to SVS.

Company President Gary Yacoubian says SVS aims to raise performance standards and broaden access to reference-level bass. Both models are shipping now, and the manufacturer will roll them out internationally next month.
