SVS Previews Wireless Speakers and Streaming Amp
The gloss-black Prime Wireless Speaker System ($600) marries a 4 x 50-watt amplifier with a 192-KHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and digital crossover said to precisely control the power delivered to the 1-inch aluminum-dome tweeter and 4.5-inch driver in each speaker. In addition to DTS Play-Fi, the system supports aptX/Bluetooth for direct streaming from mobile devices and Wi-Fi connectivity for multiroom setups but also has line-level analog and optical digital inputs. A subwoofer output and USB charging port are also provided.
Built-in access to internet radio, Spotify, Pandora, and other popular streaming services is supported along with Amazon Alexa voice control, and the system can be controlled via the Play-Fi app. Six front-panel preset buttons provide instant access to favorite internet radio stations and music services, and there’s a “Critical Listening Mode” for streaming high-resolution “lossless” files.
Designed to bring power and wireless streaming to an existing set of speakers, the Prime Wireless SoundBase ($500) boasts a 2 x 150-watt amplifier, 192-kHz/24-bit DAC, and multiple connection options, including Wi-Fi and aptX/Bluetooth streaming. The amplifier can be controlled via an app or Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant and supports multiroom playback to an existing AV system through its line-level output.
Dual-band Wi-Fi is said to ensure uninterrupted playback and the amp provides direct access to Spotify, SiriusXM, Pandora, Amazon Music, Tidal and other popular streaming services via the DTS Play-Fi app. Like the Wireless Speaker System, the SoundBase has six front-panel presets for direct access to favorite streaming services, playlists, or internet radio stations and provides both optical digital and analog line-level inputs in addition to a subwoofer output and USB charging port.
The Prime Wireless Speaker System and Prime Soundbase are slated for delivery the week of October 22.
