Teac Turntable Combines Best of Old and New
The three-speed, belt-drive table features integrated, 16-bit/48 kHz Texas Instruments analog-to-digital converters and a USB Type B digital output for archiving treasured vinyl recordings on your computer. It also has a built-in phono EQ amplifier and switchable RCA phono/line. The RCA jacks and tone-arm contacts are gold plated.
Highlights include a wood chassis (available in matte red or walnut veneer), detachable dust cover, static-balanced, an S-shaped tone arm with a universal head shell for “superior tracking,” a high-torque, DC motor assembly, a Neoprene-coated aluminum platter with a felt mat, an anti-skating mechanism to keep the needle in the groove, and a low-friction spindle designed to ensure consistent rotation-speed and tonal accuracy.
The turntable includes a pre-installed, Audio-Technica AT100E MM-equivalent cartridge that weighs 6.5g (±0.2) with a needle pressure of 1.4g (±0.4).
To combat vibration, the TN-400S has a high-density-MDF plinth with decoupled feet.
