Will have to run out and buy one — my friends will so impressed. My Burger King branded Rolls Royce will be jealous.
Technics Announces Lamborghini-Inspired Version of the Venerable SL-1200 Turntable
The new SL-1200M7B is an audiophile-grade DJ turntable slated to ship at the end of July for $1,599 but available for pre-order through Best Buy and Sweetwater, retailer of pro audio gear, including DJ equipment, and musical instruments.
This latest version of the turntable is based on the SL-1200MK7SL and features a coreless direct-drive motor, die-cast aluminum platter, two-layer chassis that melds die-cast aluminum with a special mixture of ABS plastic and glass fibers to reduce external vibrations, and an S-shaped tonearm balanced on high-precision bearings to ensure “excellent tracking performance with minimum stylus jumping,” even during harsh DJ maneuvers such as scratching.
Controls include a new reverse play function and adjustments for torque/brake speed and pitch, the latter for fine-tuning rotation speed.
The SL-1200M7B comes with a slipmat, two stickers — one featuring the Automobili Lamborghini logo, the other the Technics logo — and a record sure to delight car enthusiasts with powerful V12-engine and driving sounds of six different Lamborghini super cars; the record itself is a picture disc that looks like a tire from the iconic Italian car maker’s latest model, the Revuelto (shown above).
The turntable is available with Lamborghini’s signature Y pattern in Arancio Apodis (orange, shown in opener), Verde Shock (green), or Giallo Athon (yellow) and includes an EP record adaptor, tonearm balance weight, head shell, phono cartridge screw set, and a phono cable.
