Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (Blu-ray)
Disney has created quite a franchise around the adorable Tinker Bell with a series of books, apparel and toys, video games, and these Tink-specific films. While my family is older than the intended demographic, the story is heartfelt and the animation is spectacular. Normally I shy away from direct-to-video releases but the house of mouse have given these films the A-list treatment.
Video Highlights
- AVC/1080p encode on a BD-50 disc
- Outstanding depth
- Striking color palette
- Inky blacks
- Detail in clothing is mesmerizing
Audio Highlights
- DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack
- Intelligible dialog
- Reserved dynamics
- Front-heavy presentation
The digital image is very impressive with outstanding dimensionality and depth. The audio track isn't as aggressive as the previous film (Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure), but is nonetheless satisfying.
Bonus Materials
- Deleted Scenes (HD)
- Trivia game
- "Design a Fairy House" featurettes (HD)
- "How to Believe" music video performed by Bridgit Mendler
- DVD copy of the film
While not as exciting as the previous film in the franchise, The Great Fairy Rescue delivers a heartfelt message about friendship and loyalty for young girls. It's relatively brief at 77 minutes and the animation is spectacular. Recommended for families with young girls.
