Tiny Module Brings 3D Sound to Any Headphone
The 3D Sound One Module connects via Bluetooth to an iPhone (4S or newer) or PC (via an app or driver loaded on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 PCs) and sends head tracking data to the device to create an immersive audio experience. Sensors read the slight “micromovements” you subconsciously make when your brain tries to locate a sound source to render three-dimensional sound that is “precisely localized,” according to the company. A more detailed explanation is available here.
“3D Sound One Module allows the user to feel the emotions of speakers through their headphones,” according 3D Sound Labs. “The sound is alive, not just stereo. The listening is natural and less tiring, as if the sound came from different corners of the room.
With video games, the module’s tracking sensors are said to increase realism and provide a competitive advantage by localizing the sound. “With a clear acoustic representation of his own environment, the user is more focused and can act quicker.”
Weighing less than half an ounce, the module has a micro USB connector and measures 1.7 x 1.3 x 0.6 inches; its rechargeable battery is said to last up to 18 hours.
