When in Rome (Blu-ray)

When in Rome (Blu-ray) Your typical presentation of a romantic comedy. By David Vaughn Beth (Kristen Bell) takes a whirlwind trip to Italy for her sister's wedding and finds herself pursued by the most unlikely group of men who have fallen madly in love with her. When she returns the love with one of them she questions whether it's real or if he's under the same mystical spell that has infected the others.

Maybe I was in the right mood when I watched this but I found it to be very funny and entertaining. Bell is as cute as can be and her character is extremely likable. Granted, the story is way over-the-top, but that's OK since it doesn't take itself too seriously and the actor's seem to be having a lot of fun in their roles.

  • Front-loaded presentation
  • Surround speakers relegated to minimal ambience
  • Soundtrack features adequate dynamics

This certainly won't be the first disc you pull off the shelf to highlight your systems prowess, but it serves its purpose.

I was ready to pan this film after the first 15 minutes, but the likable characters righted the ship and I could think of worse ways to spend 90 minutes. I was definitely in the mood for something a little quirky and this fit the bill. If you find yourself in a similar mood, be sure to give it a rental.
