YouTube Rolls Out Live 4K Streaming
Last month YouTube announced that it had added support for high dynamic range (HDR) video and this week the online video community announced that it is rolling out of 4K live streaming for 360-degree and standard videos.
“Supporting this new format will let creators and partners stream incredibly high-resolution video, and let viewers enjoy the clearest picture possible when watching a live stream on 4K-supported devices,” YouTube senior product manager Kurt Wilms wrote in a blog.
“The image quality is just mind-blowing on screens that support it, and in 360 degrees … the clarity can truly transport you.”
For live-stream encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions, visit YouTube’s help page.
YouTube was an early adopter of 4K, enabling support for the high-resolution format in 2010. Since then, millions of 4K videos have been uploaded.
